THE TEAM
The three founding directors, Evan Jankelowitz, Mohamed Kalla and Kundayi Munzara co-manage the Sesfikile BCI Property Fund and the Sesfikile BCI Global Property Fund. Together they hold investment experience of over 35 years in the listed property sector, making them one of the most experienced teams in the market.

Evan Jankelowitz
Director | Portfolio Manager
Evan graduated with a BCom (Hons) in Investment Management (Cum Laude) from the University of Johannesburg and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. His professional journey began at Stanlib, where he initially worked in the Wealth Division, representing teams such as Structured and Alternative Investments and Product Development. Evan’s career at Stanlib led him to the asset management sector, where he served as an Analyst with a primary focus on listed property investments. He later assumed the role of Co-Head of the listed property franchise. During his tenure at Stanlib, the franchise expanded to become the largest listed property manager in South Africa and achieved top performance rankings over 3-and 5-year investment periods. Evan also managed the Stanlib Global Property Fund, which had investments in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

Mohamed Kalla
Director | Portfolio Manager
Mohamed earned a BCom degree in Investment Management from the University of Pretoria and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Additionally, he completed the Investment Management Workshop at Harvard Business School and the Future of Real Estate Investment Program at the Said Business School, University of Oxford. His extensive background in the listed property sector encompasses roles as a rated sell-side Analyst and Portfolio Manager spanning domestic and global real estate markets. Mohamed began his professional journey with RMB Asset Management, where he was part of the Institute of Investment Excellence program. Subsequently, he joined BJM Securities, serving as a Research Analyst and earning recognition as one of the top-rated sell-side Analysts in the Real Estate sector.

Kundayi Munzara
Director | Portfolio Manager
Kundayi holds a BSc. (Hons) in Property Studies from the University of Cape Town and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He completed the Program for Leadership Development (PLD) and Private Equity and Venture Capital (PEVC) courses at Harvard Business School. His career commenced as a property valuer at Old Mutual Properties as an intern. In 2005, he transitioned to Investec Private Bank, where he worked in the property risk team, valuing properties for lending purposes. Subsequently, he joined Investec Property Investments as a ‘buy-side’ analyst and later took on the role of Head of Research for the investment team, overseeing analysts in South Africa, Europe and Australia while based in London.

Naeem Tilly
Portfolio Manager I Head Of Research
Naeem graduated with a BAcc. from the University of Witwatersrand, a CA (SA) qualification and holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He recently attained a Certificate in ESG Investing from the CFA Institute. Naeem’s career took off at PWC, where he qualified as a CA (SA). He then moved to Avior Capital Markets as a listed property Analyst and, subsequently, Financial Director before their listing. In his 10 years as a sell-side Analyst, Naeem was an FM-rated Analyst for three consecutive years. Before joining Sesfikile Capital, Naeem worked as a Senior Investment Analyst at Catalyst Fund Managers.

Anil Ramjee
Portfolio Manager I Global REIT Analyst
Anil graduated with a Master’s in Property Studies from the University of Cape Town and a Master’s in Economic Science from the University of Witwatersrand. He began his professional career at Cadiz FSG Securities, contributing as a quantitative economist and research assistant focusing on strategy. Following this, he transitioned to Standard Bank, where he joined the operational risk team tasked with crafting and overseeing risk maps for the bank. In 2012, Anil ventured into a new role as a sell-side Equity Analyst with Vunani Securities, concentrating his expertise on the listed property sector.

Zinhle Simelane
Research Analyst
Zinhle graduated with a BSc. in Property Studies from the University of Witwatersrand and is a CFA Level 2 candidacy. Her experience spans roles at MSM Property Fund, Emira Property Fund, and Afrifocus Securities, where she specialized in JSE-listed property companies. Zinhle has a wealth of knowledge in listed property research and market analysis.

Laura Breytenbach
Head of Operations
Laura graduated with a BCom (Hons) degree from the University of Johannesburg and is a qualified CA (SA). She completed her articles at Deloitte in London and also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning from the University of the Free State. With extensive experience in wealth and asset management, she has a strong track record of driving operational efficiency, business growth, and project execution.

Nalika Pema-Thonga
Client Engagement I Brand Lead
Nalika earned a BCom degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and a Post-Graduate Diploma in General Management and Masters in Business Administration from the Gordon Institute of Business. Her career began in London in 2005 when she joined Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Investment team. Later, she transitioned to Fidelity International Limited, contributing to the Institutional Sales team and gaining operational insights into various aspects of the investment framework. Upon returning to South Africa, Nalika joined Investec Bank’s Securities Private Clients division, where she spent five years on the equities trading desk in an operational capacity.

Neo Mokoena
Business and Investment Operations Analyst
Neo graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Financial Markets from the University of Johannesburg, a Higher Certificate in Economic Science from UNISA, and a Certificate in Investment and Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand. His career took off at Citigroup in 2003, where he initially worked in the Credit Risk Division and subsequently held various roles within the bank until 2009. He then moved to Investec, joining the Capital Markets division as a Trade Support Analyst until 2013. Later in his career, Neo moved to the United Bank of Switzerland, and most recently, held the position of Investment Operations Analyst at Visio Fund Management.

Tshwanetse Manaise
Investment Operations Specialist
Tshwanetse graduated with a National Diploma in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg in 2016 and holds an Advanced Diploma in Accounting Science from UNISA. Her career began as a Retail Client Consultant at STANLIB in 2018, and she later transitioned to the institutional investment operations team as a Matching and Settlements Administrator. In 2021, she joined Coreshares Asset Management as a portfolio administrator and was later promoted to Senior Investment and Portfolio Analyst.

Nolwazi Maphalala
Team PA
Nolwazi earned a Diploma in Public Relations Management from the Tshwane University of Technology. She started her career in 2011 and served various roles in media and public relations. After gaining valuable experience in this arena, Nolwazi joined Valostar159 in 2016 as an Executive PA and Office Manager. Here she gained extensive experience as an executive PA while at the same time performed other operational functions within the business.
